COST OF CARE
Being a new cat owner, I was under the misconception that cats are okay being left alone, even for a week. So before my trip, I prepped food, water, and litter for my cat and I hid treats and toys around the room that he could discover to keep him occupied. However, during the week, the stress, loneliness, and/or boredom led him to ingest many inedible items in the room that blocked his intestines. I came home from my trip shocked to see him near death. Crying, I quickly rushed him to the nearest vet where they recommended urgent surgery that would cost me between $6000-7000.00. Since I had just moved and could not afford the surgery, I was referred to another vet in another state who would be able to do the same surgery for a lesser amount. It enlightened me to see how caring people are for animals’ lives. I am appreciative of the veterinarian by my house for giving me another option and I am also appreciative for the more distant veterinarian who was able to help my cat while helping me as well. That is why I appreciate the vision for Hope for All Paws to cross borders and assist with more affordable medical costs.
