During our trip to Mexico in April 2022, we came across a neighbor who had 7 dogs and 3 cats. We learned that the owner had mental issues and kept the dogs in horrible conditions. The dogs, infested with fleas, were tied up to trees in the yard and could barely move. Some were even starved.
When we learned about the extreme situation, we knew we had to do something to help these animals. We connected with a small foundation that was aware of the situation and already working with the owner to convince her to give up her dogs for adoption since she couldn’t afford to feed them.
We worked with the foundation to help rescue and adopt them all, providing everything the dogs needed, including a place where they could roam free. Upon rescue, the dogs were seen by a vet, vaccinated and treated for fleas. We also hired someone to build each dog a doghouse. We purchased collars, leashes and beds, and they are now fed daily. The dogs are doing great…they love their new home and look a lot healthier!
